The recent decision made by Ålesund Kommune was to impose a strict limitation on bus lengths accessing Aksla viewpoint. Buses are now restricted to a maximum of 11 meters starting from the 2024 season. This strict limitation renders it no longer feasible for us to conduct the Ålesund Ultimate Sightseeing tour in large groups, if Aksla viewpoint is included. The reason behind this decision is safety, as mandated by Ålesund Kommune. Ensuring the safety of our customers is always our top priority on all our tours.
Due to this safety decision by Ålesund Kommune we have decided to replace Aksla viewpoint with Storhaugen viewpoint.
As a company, we are aware of the potential impact on our valued customers. Altering our tour itinerary at the last moment isn’t a decision taken lightly and will only be done if all else fails. Rising costs aren’t the sole concern; our limited access to the viewpoint compromises the sustainability of our tour, which includes the Aksla viewpoint. There is a saying; “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped”. We hope that our customers can trust our experience and expertise in providing, as always, an unforgettable experience.
In the upcoming days, all guests who have booked the Ålesund Ultimate Sightseeing tour with us will be privately contacted to inform them about the replacement of viewpoints. All guests will have the choice to select an alternative tour or receive a full refund if our plan doesn’t align with their travel plans.
